First of all we need to know what a Sailboat is
1. Definition
A sailboat is a watercraft mainly propelled by wind (duh)
2. Types of Sailboats
There are many types of Sailboats which also vary greatly in difficulty of steering and maneuvering and there are so many classes and types of Sailboats I can't cover them in one thread there are 100+ individual categories and their own tweaks and variations. There are 5 main types of Sailboats. Sloop Ketch Yawl Schooner and Catboats
2.1 The Sloop
It's the most popular Sailboat archetype it has one mast where the big Sail (now in modern times they are a triangilar Bermuda sail) hangs on it and one smaller headsail in front it's relatively easy to handle cause threre arent many sails and not that many ropes or mechanics behind it u just sit in it with one or 2 ppl and go off if u know a lil sum, can be speedy
and is super scaleable there are 6 metre ones and there are huge sailyachts that are sloops. They are very aerodynamic and all in all just a classic good boat u can't go wrong with it.
Whoopsie lost focus
2.2 The Ketch
The ketch boat is a boat with a huge ass head sail and a smaller main sail and they are also easy to handle and not THAT complicated to sail with but they are harder to sail as a sloop cause sloop is easy cause of simplicity but the ketch is easy to sail with cause it can rlly balance winds well if one sail ruptures u can easily js sail with the other comfortably which u cant do with a sloop also they can be faster in heavy winds and go speedy if u got a sexy tailwind pushing u and forgot to write this but the sloop and ketch can use a spinnaker which can be designed to look super pretty and are used to sail without strong winds or rlly any wind at all
a breeze can alr be enough if u use one
And gotta go to sleep so imma js post more tmrw
Edit: I maybe should have explained how a sailboat works and shiet first but eh
