I’ve been thinking about the role of women in looksmaxing spaces, and I just want to say I don’t dislike women, and I’m not saying they can’t looksmax they literally can, but theres a difference between looksmaxing and being like a part of this space like forums.
Looksmaxing forums is shaped by male experiences. For guys looksmaxing often comes from pressure and competiton. The dating market hits men and women differently, and concepts like hypergamy mean that men usually face a steeper climb when it comes to improving their attractiveness for dating.
Because of that, when women show up in these spaces, it sometimes feels like they’re not on the same stakes or motivations as us. A lot of the women who post here seem more like they’re observing socializing or just going into the community rather than actually living the same reality. They can come off as attention-seeking.
Again, this isn’t about gatekeeping. Women are welcome to participate. But I think it’s ok to know that most of the struggles anxieties and motivations behind looksmaxing are uniquely male, and that shapes the entire forum.
