If you actually need them then your teeth are already negatively affecting your appearance so it would probably be fine, if you just "want" them I most likely wouldnt get them. If you have an overbite braces with elastics could bring your mandible forward but at the same time stop/slow maxillary forward growth. In any case avoid extractions at all costs

yes tongue posture is important but orthodontic care is usually needed because of poor diet or malnutrition during puberty or as a child tongue posture is also very important but id say nutrition is more important
