The issue isn’t just misunderstanding—it’s that most people I interact with aren’t actually trying to understand anything. Especially in my environment, a lot of neurodivergent people are more focused on sounding intelligent than engaging with what’s being said. Every conversation turns into a pointless attempt to ‘correct’ something, even when that was never the point. So instead of addressing the idea, they latch onto some minor detail or misinterpretation and build their entire response around that. It’s not discussion, it’s just performance.
And honestly, I don’t fit in on either side. With neurotypical people, there’s a disconnect in how things are processed. With neurodivergent people, it turns into this constant need to prove something. In both cases, the result is the same—no real understanding, just noise.
I’m not trying to be right all the time. I’m trying to be understood. But if the other person isn’t even aiming for that, the conversation is already pointless.
