Ok so i'll be honest this guide is kinda water but i havent seen it on here so i thought i might aswell make it. Also im not including stuff like bleaching skin cause like thats weird
Brightening Skin:
- A lot of people want to brighten their skin because they got overly tanned and want to restore their natural color.
Here are some tips:
- Stay out of the sun, sun exposure obviously makes you darker because the UV radiation from the sun stimulates melanocytes to produce
more pigment as a sort of defense mechanism to reduce damage. This ultimately results in a tan which isn't what is wanted in this case.
- Wear sunscreen, ideally at least SPF 30 even on cloudy days. I personally prefer ones that dont leave a greasy layer and absorb into my skin.
- Try Kojic Acid soap, it works by inhibiting this enzyme called tyrosinase which is responsible for producing melanin. I used to use it at night and
leave it on for a few minutes to absorb. AVOID EYEBROWS AND FACIAL HAIR UNLESS YOU WANT LIGHTER FACIAL HAIR.
- Vitamin C Serums are very good for treating hyperpigmentation cause i've read it also inhibits tyrosinase.
- Exfoliation is quite important.
- If you have acne avoid popping any of it because that causes discoloration/hyperpigmentation which defeats the purpose of brightening your
skin.
- This one is quite literally water but staying hydrated is so important for having non-dull looking skin.
Tanning:
- Get more sunlight, play sports outside a lot in summer.
- It sounds counter-intuitive but if you're gonna be outside a lot i'd still recommend wearing sunscreen of like SPF 15 at least so your skin doesn't
start peeling. This kinda applies more to lighter skin tones.
- Eating foods high in caretenoids can help to give you a golden complexion. Supplements will probably work better. Good dietary sources include:
- carrots
- sweet potatoes
- tomatoes
Undertones:
Fixing your undertone can make your skin have a much warmer and nicer complexion.
Like i mentioned before you can mainly do this through supps like:
- Astaxanthin (I've heard the best version to take of it is through red krill oil)
- Beta-Carotene (Found in carrots)
- Lycopene (Found in tomatoes)
- I've heard Glutathione is crap but might aswell mention it.
Another important point is to not wear colors that wash out your skin color.
Colors that are too close to your skin tone’s depth and undertone can make you look dull and sick.
Contrast is your best friend.
