My orthodontists current plan if to close the gap in my teeth through braces (4mm i think roughly) and bring two of my premolars down to be in line because their higher up then the rest of my teeth, but if their is not enough room when the gap is closed they want to extract the premolar behind, is their any alternative i can ask for instead since my pallete isn’t narrow.

Would an expander work since i know it would be very mild overcrowding if they do have to pull which isn’t for certain i just wanna be prepared
