I finally did my otoplasty. From 12 a.m. until the surgery I had to fast and could only drink about 2 dl of water. The surgery took around an hour since I only fixed one ear my left one was the only one that stuck out. I was awake the whole time, is. You can get anesthesia if you’re scared of needles or anything, but honestly it wasn’t that bad. They started by cleaning the ear, then they mapped it to match my right ear. After that they injected numbing, but after that I didn’t feel anything.
When everything was numb they started shaping the cartilage. during the surgery i just chatted with the people in the room
Now after the surgery I have to wear a big bandage around my head for a week, so I can’t really shower or wash my hair, just my face . The worst part was when the numbing wore off the pain was pretty rough and I only had ibuprofen so no strong pain killers so that was quite rough. In a week I’m going back to switch to a smaller bandage, which i will wear for 2–4 weeks, and then a headband at night for about 2 months. Overall it really wasn’t as bad as I thought, especially during the surgery.
