Im going to a dentist tomorrow. I have a narrow palate n jaw. Im also recessed in my maxilla and a little bit in my jaw. I was thinking of asking for Marpe, Damon braces and facemask/reverse headgear. I dont know if i should pick MASPE or MARPE tho and if this is overall a good idea. Any suggestions to what i could get? And what are the cons?

Ask for MARPE & BAMP, Reverse Headgear is good for the price but a bit of an old device, less convenient too.

Damon braces are decent too.

MASPE is slower than MARPE.

Not really much cons apart from having metal in your mouth for a bit, other than that its just pure bone development & positioning, depending on age of course (under 16).

Ty for fast response.
Im mid-15. I dont know if i should get MASPE or MARPE tho, i know that its slower with MASPE but i just want the best results, i dont care about how long it takes. Which one would that be?

Whats BAMP and will i get permanent bad breath because of the metal?

Since you're mid 15 you should do MARPE instead of MASPE and combine with BAMP, as you are short for time.

BAMP is for maxillary correction - you can use it at the same time as MARPE, you mentioned maxillary recession so BAMP will fix this hopefully.

No you won't get bad breath, as long as your hygiene is good.

Alright so ask for MARPE, Damon braces and BAMP? Btw all of this is free so if theres any changes i can make, dont think of cost/price. In my country if ur under 18 u get all for free if its just a small health problem. Will any of this sit in my mouth permanently?

Exactly.

Permanent as in constantly, yes. Obviously, once the devices have done what its needed to they'll take it out. But ask the dentist for more info regarding timings, I will say though, ITS WORTH IT.

Tbh bro I'm about to log out I don't really have the time. But I will rehash A.I for you, this pretty much sums up everything:

Bone Anchored Maxillary Protraction (BAMP)
is an orthodontic surgical method used to correct Class III malocclusion, which is characterized by an underdeveloped upper jaw. The procedure involves surgically placing small metal plates (miniplates) into the bones of the upper and lower jaws, to which elastics are attached, gently pulling the upper jaw forward over time, typically taking 1-2 years. This technique aims to correct the jaw alignment without waiting for the patient to finish growing, potentially reducing the need for later jaw surgery.

Overview of BAMP

Bone Anchored Maxillary Protraction (BAMP) is an orthodontic surgical technique designed to correct Class III malocclusion, which is characterized by an underdeveloped upper jaw (maxilla). This condition can lead to significant dental and facial disharmony, often requiring surgical intervention in later teenage years.

Procedure Details

Surgical Placement

  • Miniplates Insertion: Small metal plates, known as miniplates, are surgically placed into the bones of both the upper and lower jaws.
  • Location: The upper miniplates are positioned in the zygomatic region (cheekbone area), while lower miniplates are placed in the mandibular symphysis (front part of the lower jaw).

Mechanism of Action

  • Elastic Attachment: Elastics are attached to the miniplates, creating a gentle pulling force that moves the upper jaw forward over time.
  • Duration: The active treatment phase typically lasts between 1 to 2 years, during which the upper jaw is gradually repositioned.

Benefits of BAMP

Early Intervention

  • Age Group: BAMP is particularly effective for children aged 11 to 14 years, a critical period when facial growth is still ongoing.
  • Avoiding Surgery: By correcting the jaw alignment early, BAMP can significantly reduce the need for later orthognathic (jaw) surgery, which is often more invasive and requires longer recovery.

Clinical Effectiveness

  • Research Findings: Studies have shown that BAMP can effectively correct the skeletal pattern associated with Class III malocclusion, leading to improved dental alignment and aesthetics.
  • Long-term Outcomes: Patients who undergo BAMP are less likely to require surgical intervention in their late teens compared to those who do not receive treatment.

Conclusion

BAMP offers a promising alternative to traditional methods of treating Class III malocclusion, allowing for effective correction during a crucial growth period. This technique not only improves dental function and appearance but also enhances the overall quality of life for young patients by reducing the psychological impact of malocclusion.
