Why even lipmax in the first place?

Most guys don't even pay attention to the appearance of their lips because they think that it is gay or feminine. This is a close minded way of thinking that is holding you back from obtaining mogger lips.

On both genders, full lips are just objectively attractive. Here are some things to focus on while lipmaxxing.

• Fullness

• Color

• Shine

• Hydration

• Shape

• Proportions

This image shows why you should lipmax. Lipmaxxing is always going to be a positive if you do it correctly

LIPMAXXING:

___________________________
Hygiene:

Hygiene is very important, dry, uncared for lips just come off as careless and it's a complete net negative.

Do's

•Gently brush your lips after you brush your teeth

•Use a damp hand towel to gently scrape off any dead skin

•Keep your lips moisturized and reapply if needed

•Wear a lip balm with SPF 30

•Always put a nice layer of Aquaphor/Vaseline before going to bed

•Use a sugar scrub every so often to exfoliate your lips

•Drink lots of water during the day

•Avoid picking, biting, and licking your lips

•Dont exfoliate too much

Dont's

•Exfoliate super often

•Constant licking, biting, or picking at lips

•Not using sun protection

•Smoking

•Not staying hydrated

•Neglecting cleaning your lips

•Using irritating products

Microneedling:

Microneedling your lips can net you plenty of positives such as a natural, temporary pump, hydration, reducing fine line, collagen stimulation, and enhancing lip color.

When microneedling, you make tiny little holes in your lips, which your body stimulates collagen to heal, this can create a nice, temporary plump look on your lips.

After microneedling if you use serums, the micro channels allow the serums to penetrate deeper into your lips. This allows for smoother, less dry, and softer lips.

Microneedling can improve the vermilion border and reduces vertical lines around the mouth.

After microneedling, the improved circulation creates a more robust, brighter natural lip color.

When you microneedle make sure you are using a dermastamp, ensure that the needles stick out at 0.25-0.5mms, this is the highest you should go. Make sure that your microneedling device is sterile. Move in sections, stamping across the lips. You can also apply a numbing cream 30 minutes before hand (not really necessary). After the treatment make sure to apply a nice layer of lip balm and put the derma stamp in some isopropyl alcohol to clean it.

You should microneedle your lips every 4-6 weeks.

Hyaluronic Acid:

Hyaluronic (HA) is a good ingredient to implement into your lipmaxxing regimen.

HA is a humectant, so it draws moisture from the environment and deeper skin layers to the surface, leaving your lips nice and hydrated.

HA also gives a temporary little plumpness effect, this is because of the hydration and filling of skin cells. This makes lips appear smoother and a little plumper.

HA also improves your lips texture, and reduces vertical lines/wrinkles. You must be using it consistently though.

HA also helps restore the skins natural barrier which can help protect the lips from irritation and damage.

HA can also help with your lips pigmentation by reducing the appearance of dry, dull, or pale lips.

In order to apply HA make sure you dampen your lips a little bit, put it on topically and then seal it in with a balm (Aquaphor/Vaseline).

Isotretinoin:

20170316_isotretinoin.jpg

Cons:

Cracking

• Dryness

• Peeling

• Chapped Lips

How to maintain your lips while on isotretinoin:

You must keep your lips moisturized, as accutane obviously causes dryness. After you brush your teeth make sure to brush your lips afterwards to gently exfoliate them and get them ready for moisture. You can use aquaphor, Vaseline, or lanolin consistently throughout the day, especially at night before you go to bed. Also use a lip balm with at least SPF 30 for sun protection.

Pros:

• Fuller Lips
Isotretinoin can give the appearance of fuller lips, this is because of the severe dryness. This can trigger inflammation and causes the lips to swell and appear larger. Also accutane changes how the skin holds moisture and repairs itself, leading to tighter skin and swollen lips

ap7if6a07te41.jpg

• Pigmentation Changes
Accutane can make your lips more red/pink due to the dryness, skin thinning, and Inflammation. This can expose underlying blood vessels, leading to a more rosy appearance.

Filler:

Lip fillers are a type of dermal filler that add volume to your lips. Lip fillers contain synthetic hyaluronic acid, that is then injected into your lips.

During this procedure, a professional will use a local anesthetic to numb the area for injection. You may feel a slight pinching sensation as well. Usually your provider will insert 1 ml of filler into your lips, and the needle won't go deeper than 2.5 mm into your skin.

This procedure can range from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

lip-filler-before-and-after-featured.jpg

Results from lip fillers can last generally around 12-18 months, however some factors may vary this such as, age and how fast your body breaks down calories into energy.

After the procedure, swelling may take up to 24-48 hours to go away.

Tips for after the procedure:

•Use an icepack for swelling/inflammation

•Avoid making gestures with your lips (puckering/kissing)

•Drink alot of water

•Be careful when eating, brushing teeth and drinking

•Dont touch your lips after the procedure

Lip Flip:

A lip flip is a procedure that utilizes Botox to make your lips appear fuller. A provider will Inject botox into the corners of your mouth and the edges of your lips.

The Botox relaxes the muscle around the upper lip, allowing it flip up a little and appear fuller than normal.

Lip flips generally look more "natural" than lip fillers. The results from a lip flip typically last from 2-5 months. The procedure should take around 10-20 minutes. Also after about 12-24 hours the pain/swelling should go away.

lip-flip-example-3.jpg

Implants:

Lip implants are soft, solid silicone or ePTFE devices that are surgically inserted into the lips through small, hidden incisions at the corners of the mouth.

These implants can increase fullness, definition, and volume and are more permanent than filler. The procedure is usually finished in about 30 minutes and uses local anesthesia.

Most patients experience swelling/bruising for 1-3 weeks, however most return to normal activities in about 1-3 days.

lipimplant31a.jpg

Fat Grafting:

Fat grafting is a long lasting augmentation that uses liposuction to harvest fat from your body and then injected into your lips.

The results from this procedure feel natural, come with no risk of allergic reaction, and can last for years. The fat is also purified to remove any impurities and isolate high quality fat cells.

The procedure usually lasts from 60-90 minutes, and swelling can last from a couple days to 2 weeks. But will subside in that time obviously.

an6f0rfx51y71.jpg

Subnasian Bullhorn Lift:

In this procedure, a surgeon will remove a small strip of skin directly below the nose, lifts the lip, and sutures it to a higher position.

This can shorten the philtrum and also increases vermilion show. It can enhance the cupids bow and can increase upper tooth show while smiling. This procedure is permanent.

The recovery usually takes around 3 months with the first couple of days having discomfort and swelling. Around 5-7 days, the sutures are removed. Major swelling/bruising subsides after about a week or two. Fully healed results and scar maturation usually takes around 6-12 months.

images.jpeg

Corner Lip Lift:

A corner Lip Lift raises the corners of the mouth, by removing a small triangular piece of skin above the upper lateral lip, the surgeon lifts the commissures to correct a downwards, frowning appearance. The procedure is typically performed using local anesthesia.

The small triangular piece that is removed often includes a small part of the depressor muscle that pulls the corner down. The corners of the mouth are moved upwards, and the edges are secured with sutures to maintain the new position.

The initial healing usually takes about a week with some swelling and bruising expected. With the stitches removed in a few days.

liplift61b.jpg

Lip Reduction:

Lip Reduction surgery aims to reduce the size and volume of the upper lip, bottom lip, or both to achieve better facial harmony.

This is done with local anesthesia. Also a horizontal incision is made on the mucosal surface to ensure no visible scars.

The incision is sealed with small, dissolvable sutures that vanish on their own within days or weeks. Recovery usually takes around 1-2 weeks, with swelling and bruising common for the first week.

Screenshot_20260402-192916.png

Dermal Grafting:

Dermal Grafting is a procedure that uses the patient's tissue, usually fat and dermis from the butt/thighs to increase volume in lips.

A small piece of dermis and fat is extracted and is then threaded through a small, hidden incision into the lip. This procedure often requires sedation.

Initial swelling and bruising is to be expected of course, with results usually being fulfilled after about 2 weeks.

Gull Wing Lift

A gull Wing Lift is a procedure where a thin, M shaped strip of skin directly above the lips is removed. By doing this, it shortens the distance between the nose and lip, increases red lip show, and enhances volume and definition.

This is performed under local anesthesia and usually takes no more than an hour. The recovery initially takes about a week, with swelling and redness being common. In this period of time the stitches will also be removed.

p3z9oonleiza1.jpg

Lip Boosters

Lip boosters are usually injectable treatments containing specialized, low viscosity HA that is designed to deeply hydrate, renew, and slightly plump the lips. This differs from traditional dermal fillers as it does not provide the significant structural volume.

Lip boosters improve texture, and enhances the lips natural, soft look for a more temporary finish. The formulas also serves as a skin booster, encouraging long term collagen production.

Swelling may last for up to 3 days but recovery is quick, with results lasting from 3-6 months.

IMG_5944.jpg

Lateral Commisuroplasty:

This is a mouth widening surgery, that can increase the horizontal width of the mouth by 5-10mm on each side.

It works by using a Y-V mucosal advancement, where small, triangular skin segments are removed and the inner vermilion and mucosa are brought out to form the new corner.

The procedure leaves fine line scars at the new vermilion cutaneous junction. Mild bruising and swelling is common, with sutures usually removed within 1-2 weeks.

Having a wide mouth is seen as attractive for these reasons:

Dominance: women perceive you as more dominant, aggressive, and attractive.

Facial Balance: a wide mouth is generally proportional to a wider, more masculine jaw. And obviously this is a key marker of masculine beauty

Symmetry: a wide, well proportioned mouth is subconsciously associated with good genetics. It also contributes to symmetry.

Smile: a wide smile is ideal, it is associated with attraction. Also it can make more teeth prominent, showing off good dental hygiene.

Ideal Proportions:

Lip to Nose Width ≈ 1.6

graph.png

Philtrum to Chin ≈ 2 - 2.4

images (4).jpeg

Upper to Lower Lip Ratio ≈ 1.4 - 2

Jama+-lip+ratio.jpg

Palate Expanders:

MARPE-Nose-volume-change-_0.jpg

While palate expanders do not directly impact the lips, a broader, more aesthetic smile can be a byproduct of expansion. This is because expanders expand the upper jaw and the dental arch, the widening of the jaw can cause a slight secondary increase in lip width or smile width.

images (5).jpeg

Mouth Widening Device:

This here is called a microstomia prevention splint and it works by stretching your mouth so that it gradually adjusts to being stretched more than usual so that a bigger width can be achieved.

Screenshot_20260402-180353.png

**Copy pasted from Quora**

The original creator of this post was, Christopher Sutton. I'm pretty sure there's also a thread on org that uses this same explanation

The idea here is to stretch the mouth in such a way that the lips vermillion (skin) doesn’t tear, but instead gradually thickens and adjusts to being stretched wider than normal so that a greater width can be maintained without conscious effort. A very positive long-term side-benefit of the stretching techniques I will describe is a greatly reduced or totally cured tendency toward chapped lips.

This is a challenge because the human mouth is surrounded by one of the most forgiving and stretchable muscles in the body, the orbicularis oris. It’s basically a sphincter that forms an unbroken loop around a normal mouth. That’s why it’s possible to form your lips into the tiny circle needed for whistling, then open wide during a yawn to over twice the width and height of your normally relaxed mouth size.

What you need to do is to stretch this muscle, and the neighboring cheek muscles, beyond your normal maximum width that you can achieve with just cheek and lips muscles efforts alone. That will require a horizontal lips stretcher, the most familiar method being a splint.

The object is to force (without tearing!!!) your orbiculus oris muscle to stretch beyond its normal limit and get the adjoining cheek muscles to adapt to the greater desired width. This will require lots of smiling and other expression efforts while wearing the splint (you may not see much actual movement at first, but in time you will see it as your cheek muscles adapt to the mouth opening being much closer than usual to where the muscles insert into cheekbones, etc. by shortening somewhat, but not losing their maximum stretches) This won’t be very comfortable, but if you’re motivated, you’ll push through the most painful first few days and gradually start to see results.

developed my own mouth stretching apparatus with a unique shape and used it successfully to noticeably widen my mouth.

Update 12/30/18: One of the most amazing positive side-effects of my own mouth stretching regimen is I have not had chapped lips in two years. I used to get painful and sometimes bleeding chapped lips every winter several times a month, and even sometimes in other seasons—even with regular use of chapstick. A lot of this had to do with living in semi-arid, low-humidity southern Idaho. I still live in southern Idaho, but my mouth stretching has toughened up my lips’ vermilion enough that I can sing and widely smile all I want to even in the winter without fear of painfully splitting my lips, and I almost never use chapstick anymore. The only exception now is for sunscreen protection while surface-mining opal or spending a lot of time outside on sunlit snow.

Update 11/20/20: Make that four years without chapped lips.

Even if the stretching regimen doesn’t result in you getting a much wider mouth, curing your lips’ tendencies toward painful chapping is likely worth the regular horizontal mouth stretching all by itself.

Edit (6/22/19). Due to increased interest I am now showing my favorite mouth stretcher design. This mouth-widening brace uses smoothed and highly polished perforated springy semi-rigid stainless steel sheets. It takes into account the need to have something to stretch my mouth, some tabs on the ends to stabilize and hold the ends in my lateral commissures, and a wide portion where my entire upper and lower lips are supported in a stretched natural curvature. The other splint designs require you to manually hold your mouth wide with sustained conscious effort, limiting the time that you can wear the splint to what your muscles can endure.

Edit (4/15/22). I am working on further refinements of the mouth-widening brace design that now is cut with a water jet metal cutter from thin solid sheets of stainless steel (easier to cut, polish, shape, and keep clean) with horizontal rows of breath holes. All edges are smoothed and rounded by application of metalworking carborundum paper followed by stainless steel polish, as is the rest of the brace/appliance. The otherwise thin ends are then covered with thermoplastic so as to spread out the stretching force so even the most extreme stretching doesn’t result in injured lips, and allows tolerance of longer periods of wear.

My “10 cm” mouth brace uses blue electrical tape to spread the pressure over a wider area, and my “11 cm” mouth brace uses sports mouth guard silicone to soften its end edges. (Update: the 10 cm one now also uses “boil and bite” mouthguard thermoplastic.) The perforations permit normal breathing and somewhat coherent speech while the brace is being worn. Due to the small size of the perforations, breathing through the appliance while it’s being worn produces a pleasant white sound rather than whistling or annoying hisses.

I’m also in the process of determining which horizontal hole pattern in the newer solid stainless steel sheet-cut ones produces the least amount of noise when breathed through (some prototypes’ breath holes actually whistle when breathed through—I personally think it’s fun, though I suspect most people wouldn’t want that).

While slightly slurred and sounding somewhat different from my normal appliance-free speech, if I substitute “n” for “m,” “d” for “b,” and “t” for “p,” moving my tongue as far forward as possible with the substitute consonants, and normal tongue position for words that actually use m, b, or p, my speech is fully intelligible for most listeners. To make the “f” sound, merely sending a puff of exhaled breath at the right moment through the perforations makes a passable phoneme. The letter “v” is just the voiced version of the “f” puffed breath adaptation. It took practice, but I can now talk on the phone and not have to remove the mouth-widening appliance.

Of course you can just take out the appliance/brace while you’re on the phone and put it back in your mouth when you’re done.

Here’s what the perforated stainless steel ones look like.

Screenshot_20260402-181005.png

Please excuse the so-so quality of my selfie. I was 57 when this picture was taken and not a model. This shows what the 10 cm one it looks like worn properly. I can wear this for a couple of hours or the 11 cm one for maybe 20 minutes before removing it due to discomfort. The most important thing to notice about my appliance is that you do not need to keep your cheek muscles tensed up to keep it from popping out of your mouth like other splints might. Your lips themselves hold the appliance in place. This way the only limit on how long you can wear it is the need to relieve discomfort from an extreme stretch or to eat or talk normally.

Another advantage to the design is the fact that if properly curved the middle part of the appliance applies little or no pressure on your front teeth. Thus, in widening your mouth this way, you won’t have to get orthodontic work done to move your teeth back forward to their proper position. The curvature has to be right; if too curved the appliance tends to come out of your mouth, and if not curved enough there will be some pressure on the teeth and gums. The wide part of the mouth-widening brace/appliance supports the upper and lower orbicularis oris muscles from behind on both the top and bottom and uses the pressure from the ends to keep the brace curved away from pressing on your teeth. If done right, a mouth-widening brace can be worn for minutes to hours without serious discomfort or danger of shifting your teeth, yet give your lips the sustained stretch you’re seeking.

Other stretchers that rely only on hooks and elastic for sustained pulling on the corners of the mouth pull the lips tightly against the teeth. The sustained pressure over time will likely push the teeth so they shift backward toward the mouth’s interior. You do not want that

Screenshot_20260402-181153.png

If anyone wants something like this, let me know by sending me a message. You will need a series with 0.5 to 1.0 cm increments wider as your mouth stretching progresses. I’m not doing this for profit, but instead I have gone to the trouble of describing my methods because I think wider mouths look beautiful and I want to see more people enjoying both the visual and practical aspects of having them—and I know my appliance works.

My mouth used to be between 4.5 and 5 cm wide when relaxed and closed and is now 6 cm wide. Before I started my maximum smile width used to be about 7.5 cm wide and is now 9+ cm (10+ for a couple of hours immediately after a stretching session) with muscular efforts alone. To get this result I had to gradually work my way up from 9 cm forced stretches (the effort hurt, especially at first!) to now 12 cm wide with very little pain (if it hurts, I stop—I have learned to heed the warnings my body makes). I can still whistle, so I haven’t injured anything. This took about six months of serious effort and my designing and testing several novel apparatuses on myself to achieve this (other models involve stainless steel hooks or headgear—most of these caused pressure on my teeth so I abandoned them).

Edit (4/16/22): My current measurements are a bit over 6.0 cm wide measured straight across, 7.0+ cm if I follow the curve of my lips with a flexible ruler, and my maximum forced smile with cheek muscle efforts alone is 9 cm measured straight across and 11 cm if I follow the curve of my lips. When viewed from the sides, I can see my upper first molars while doing my widest smile.

My most recent trip to the dentist with my more stretchable mouth resulted in the easiest teeth cleaning I’ve ever had, and I can now open my mouth much wider for singing without cheek cramps. It’s not just for looks alone I did this. I haven’t had chapped lips at all (I guess the stretching toughened them up) this year, either. Finally, to my pleasant surprise, I have not acquired additional wrinkles around my mouth and face (I’m 58).

This requires time and commitment, and like you having to wear a retainer daily for the rest of your life after orthodontic treatment, you may have to do a daily mouth stretch to maintain the desired final width of your mouth. The mouth-widening braces by the time you’ve reached that point are usually comfortable enough to wear for an hour or more without any discomfort; you may even be able to sleep wearing one. I have slept wearing one maybe a half an inch or 1 cm shorter than my “therapeutic” one that still actively stretches my lips beyond normal.

Update 2/13/20: I realized that side views don’t tell my own story adequately, so I found two “Photo Booth” pictures I had taken a bit over three years apart. One was taken July 7th 2016 before I had started my own mouth-widening project. The other was taken November 13th 2019. I sized the images so they’re at the same scale, though the resolution and lighting is a bit different. Notice in the first image my mouth is only a tiny bit wider than my nose. I didn’t like how my mouth to nose width ratio looked in this and other pictures taken of me prior to then, hence the inspiration for my mouth-widening project.

Screenshot_20260402-181446.png

Now take a look at the next image taken three years later. My face is just as relaxed as it was in the first image—or else my nose and face shape would have been different. Notice that I have no more wrinkles or sagging on the corners of my mouth despite the stretching, yet it’s obviously visibly wider—and I’m now 58.

Screenshot_20260402-181503.png

If my appliances hadn’t worked on me, I would never have mentioned them, since I don’t exactly feel like embarrassing myself in front of over 300k readers (so far). I believe in them because they work, and I have made more progress (without giving myself sagging wrinkles, lips, or other damage) in a year with this design than with any other appliance I’ve come up with.

I have made additional progress in the couple of months since then, as I have since made and currently use a 12 cm appliance (it’s of course a tight fit as expected); I can now force-smile widely enough while wearing the 10 cm appliance to permit it to fall out of my mouth with a slight tongue push. My mouth is as of today between 6–6.5 cm wide straight across, and if I follow the curve of my lips around the front of my face, it’s between 6.5 and 7 cm as of February 13th, 2020. My nose is still 4.2 cm wide. The mouth to nose width ratio range is from 1.55 to 1.67 for the curve following measurement, meaning the average is 1.61, almost exactly the Golden Ratio—my goal.

Another person who'd answered this question in 2018 has a very good idea on how to compensate for mouths returning to normal size despite frequent stretches. It's the use of injectable lips fillers on the lateral portions of the lips, possibly augmented by fat injections later on to make it permanent. After your lips are toughened up by regular daily stretches beyond the ideal relaxed width you want, you can partially stretch your mouth a bit beyond your ideal, get the injections, and your mouth will naturally relax wider than before.

Let's say you have a 5 cm wide mouth and 5 cm wide nose and want your mouth to nose width ratio to be near the Golden Ratio (1.618..), meaning a mouth about 8 cm wide. Stretch beyond 10 cm if you can to toughen up the lips vermillion against splits and chapping. Then more lightly stretch your mouth with some sort of splint to about 8.5 cm wide while receiving the lateral lips injections, the extra 0.5 cm to compensate for inevitable shrinkage. For a time (not sure how long) you'll have a 7.5–8 cm wide mouth to 'test drive' so you'll know if you like the look or not, especially if you're considering the surgical option.

If you feel you just cannot handle the discomfort and commitment of daily forcing your mouth beyond its normal width, there is the plastic surgery option. When completely healed, your wider mouth will not require stretching to maintain its new width—except perhaps a little to keep scars from causing contractures.

**Jeez that was long**

Lip Cutting:
**Risky, be careful**

During these sessions you must have

•Sterile blade

•Cotton pads for any blood

•Disinfectant for skin

So for cutting, you should generally cut 2-4 mm, also the scar must be deep to the dermis so that it fades with lip tissue once healed. You can do multiple sessions but always let your scars heal so about 2-6 weeks before cutting again.

6006696_IMG_8084.jpeg

Use this a an imaginary line to guide where you should cut. Make sure you are in a nice, sterile environment and that you take care of your lips afterwards. (Disinfectant/softening cream)

**Again, this method is unconventional and you're better off using the other methods**

**You might look like joker jfl**

A sugar and Honey Scrub can help exfoliate your lips and get rid of dead skin. Make sure you only use this like once a week to avoid over exfoliating.

How to make:

• 1 tablespoon of exfoliating ingredient (sugar/salt)

• 1 tablespoon of an emollient (oil/honey)

• small mixing bowl

• damp wash cloth

Now combine the exfoliating ingredient with the emollient in the bowl, mix it together until you're satisfied. Now just apply the scrub to your lips with a cotton swab or your finger and scrub gently for about 2 minutes.

After you're done, wipe it off with the damp hand towel and put some aquaphor on it.

You might have used aloe vera as a home remedy for a sunburn, but it's anti inflammatory effect and soothing properties make it a good remedy for chapped lips.

You can buy organic aloe vera gel and apply it to your lips as needed. The enzymes also have mild exfoliating properties, so limit use to 2-3 times per day.

Your lips don't have good barrier function like the rest of the skin, this means they are more sensitive to things like wind or the cold.

Coconut oil is an emollient which means that it not only moisturizes the skin, but can apparently also protect the skin by enhancing it's barrier function.

Some other benefits include, anti inflammatory properties and anti bacterial properties.

There are claims on the antimicrobial, anti inflammatory, and wound healing properties of honey.

Honey can help moisturize your lips and protect cracked lips from infection. It also works as a mild exfoliator.

Choose organic honey and apply to your lips throughout the day.

People with pollen or bee venom allergies should avoid this

This is what you should do:

Ingredients: vegetable glycerin (approved for skin use), shea butter, and obviously water

• dampen your lips so that the skin is soft

• get a dap of vegetable glycerin and put it on you lips, don't use a lot

• put a thin layer of shea butter over the glycerin

In minutes the glycerin will plump up the pieces of dead skin and they will slough off really easily. This combo will also help heal cracks in your lips and make it less painful.

Angular Cheilitis is quite common, it causes painful, red, cracked sores at one or both corners of the mouth. It is usually caused by saliva buildup in the corners or drying. This can allow fungi to thrive.

images (2).jpeg

Speaking from personal experience, angular cheilitis is easy to take care of, just use an antibiotic cream and keep your lips moisturized. Also avoid going out in the cold without ample lip protection, the cold can be very drying. Here's the cream I used personally.

61bhBKtl5yS._AC_UF350,350_QL80_.jpg

Make sure to use it day and night and seal it in with a layer of Aquaphor on top

Actinic Cheilitis is a precancerous condition of the lips, caused by long term UV exposure. It appears as chronic, dry, cracked, scaly, or discolored patches on the lower lip.

41405_2017_Article_BFbdjopen201716_Fig1_HTML.jpg

You can help yourself avoid getting this by wearing SPF 30 lip balm and avoid prolonged UV exposure.

Removal:

This can be treated using,

Cryotherapy: liquid nitrogen is applied to freeze and destroy the precancerous cells, causing them to peel off.

Laser Ablation: a laser is used to vaporize the damaged layer of the lip. This has high efficacy.

Topical Medications: Creams such as, 5-fluorouracil, imiquimod, or diclofenac may be applied to destroy precancerous cells

Vermilionectomy: a surgical procedure to remove the damage part of the lip.

Photodynamic Therapy: a specialized light is used in combination with a drug to kill diseased cells.

Contact Cheilitis is an inflammatory reaction of the lips caused allergies, or irritation from external substances

It usually appears as dry, cracked, burning, scaly, or itchy lips. Usually caused from toothpaste, fragrances, or foods.

images (3).jpeg

In order to avoid this you must identify what exactly you're allergic to and get rid of it. Topical creams can also help with the symptoms.

Exfoliative Cheilitis is a rarer form of cheilitis, it is categorized by chronic inflammation causing persistent peeling, scaling, and crusting of the lips, often affecting the vermilion zone.

exfoliative-cheilitis1.jpg

It's linked to habits such as lip licking or picking. And could be worsened with stress, infections, or underlying conditions such as psoriasis.

Treatments for this go as follows, behavioral management (stopping the picking/licking), topical treatments, and psychotherapy (needed if the issue is driven by stress)

Granulomatous cheilitis is a rare, chronic inflammatory condition characterized by firm, persistent swelling of the lips caused by granulomas. It is a form of orofacial granulomatosis, causing long term facial swelling, which may be a symptom of underlying systemic conditions such as crohns disease or sarcoidosis.

Treatments include: intralesional corticosteroid injections, anti inflammatory antibiotics, dietary changes, and sometimes surgical reduction.

Glandularis Cheilitis is an inflammatory condition of the minor salivary glands, usually affecting the lower lip. The condition appears as a swelling, out turned lip. Also there can be discharge of thick mucoid saliva from dilated ductal openings.

1-s2.0-S0190962209007233-gr1.jpg

This condition is often associated with chronic biting, smoking, or sun damage

Treatments for this conditions go as follows:

Topicals: Topical steroids, antibiotics, or calcineurin inhibitors to reduce inflammation.

Surgery: Vermilionectomy is often the most effective treatment for persistent disease.

Prevention: Don't smoke and make sure you're wearing lip balm with 30 SPF, also keep you lips hydrated.

Drug Induced Cheilitis is inflammation of the lips, caused from Medications

images (6).jpeg

It's characteristics include: dryness, scaling, fissures, and erythema, often affecting the corners of the mouth.

Isotretinoin and acitretin are common causes of this, however it can also stem from protease inhibitors, medicines that cause dry mouth, or allergic reactions to topicals.

Treatments including: removing the medicine that is causing it, keeping your lips moisturized while on acne meds, or topical steroids.

Plasma cell cheilitis is a Inflammatory condition, mostly affecting the lower lip. It is characterized by reddish brown hardened plaques or eroding, crusty, sores.

This often mimics lip cancer, requiring biopsy for diagnosis

Treatment includes topical calcineurin inhibitors, steroids, and photodynamic therapy.

Infectious Cheilitis is inflammation of the lips, caused by infection. Usually resulting in red, painful, cracked sores. Often at the corners of the mouth.

It is often caused by candida yeast, bacteria, or viruses

Treatment includes: Antifungal creams (for yeast), antibiotic ointments (for bacteria), or antiviral medications

This type of cheilitis stems from, underlying deficiencies in vitamins: B2,B3,B6, and B12. Iron deficiency, or zinc deficiency. Or chronic illness.

It appears as angular cheilitis, red cracked fissures, usually at the corners of the mouth.

Treatments include: supplementing the nutrients you need, or cream to fight off the infection as you supplement. You can also get a blood test to identify the underlying issue

The Effect:

The lips are very vulnerable to UV light, this is because the lip mucosa lacks a thick stratum corneum and also contains very few keratinocytes and melanocytes. Therefore lips contain almost no melanin.

Lips dry out easier than the rest of the face due to the fact that the lips skin is nearly devoid of sebaceous glands (organs that synthesize sebum). This makes them sensitive to external damage.

Sun exposure can hurt your lips aesthetics by breaking down collagen, leading to premature aging, fine lines, dryness, and loss of volume. Also after fillers, sun exposure can break down the HA, reducing the lifespan of your fillers.

The UV light can also cause dark spots, and a persistent shadow above the upper lip.

Screenshot_20260401-103944.png

Protection:

This isn't too hard, just get a mineral lip balm that has at least 30 SPF. Make sure you reapply every two hours if you're experiencing prolonged sun exposure.

Color:

Nice reddish lips go good on both genders. We've already discussed that HA can help with this cause as well as good hygiene. Here's some other ways to achieve a nice, rosy look.

Lip Blushing:

This is like a tattoo for your lips, it works by utilizing a tiny needle to deposit pigment into the lips, enhancing natural color, shape, and definition. This is a semi permanent procedure, lasting 1-3 years.

Male_Lip_Before_and_After_1024x1024.png

Products:

Using exfoliating scrubs can help reveal a nice rosy hue, as it would strip away any pale dead skin.

Another thing to use is a 10% niancinamide cream, this can help fade discoloration on the lips.

Also using colored balms can help with obtaining a nice reddish appearance.

Things to Avoid:

•Smoking

•Picking/licking/biting

•High caffeine intake

•Unprotected sun exposure

•virus (HSV-1. In rare cases HSV-2)

•Can be transmitted through saliva, skin to skin contact, sharing lip balm/utensils.

Triggers:

• Stress and fatigue (physical and emotional)

• Sun exposure and windy weather

• Illness

• Immune system changes

• Skin trauma

• hormonal changes

Cold sores can last 1-3 weeks. Treatment can help speed up this process and speed up healing.

Treatments such as: antiviral medications, such as OTC docosanol (Abreva) or prescription creams/pills (acyclovir). It's best to use this early, at the first sign of tingling.

Some remedies include: pain relievers, cold compress, and avoiding triggers.

View attachment 41539

View attachment 41543

Cons:

Cracking

• Dryness

View attachment 41545

View attachment 41547

View attachment 41548

View attachment 41549

Fat Grafting:

Fat grafting is a long lasting augmentation that uses liposuction to harvest fat from your body and then injected into your lips.

The results from this procedure feel natural, come with no risk of allergic reaction, and can last for years. The fat is also purified to remove any impurities and isolate high quality fat cells.

The procedure usually lasts from 60-90 minutes, and swelling can last from a couple days to 2 weeks. But will subside in that time obviously.

View attachment 41550

View attachment 41551

View attachment 41552

Lip Reduction:

Lip Reduction surgery aims to reduce the size and volume of the upper lip, bottom lip, or both to achieve better facial harmony.

This is done with local anesthesia. Also a horizontal incision is made on the mucosal surface to ensure no visible scars.

The incision is sealed with small, dissolvable sutures that vanish on their own within days or weeks. Recovery usually takes around 1-2 weeks, with swelling and bruising common for the first week.

View attachment 41803

Dermal Grafting:

Dermal Grafting is a procedure that uses the patient's tissue, usually fat and dermis from the butt/thighs to increase volume in lips.

A small piece of dermis and fat is extracted and is then threaded through a small, hidden incision into the lip. This procedure often requires sedation.

Initial swelling and bruising is to be expected of course, with results usually being fulfilled after about 2 weeks.

View attachment 41804

Gull Wing Lift

A gull Wing Lift is a procedure where a thin, M shaped strip of skin directly above the lips is removed. By doing this, it shortens the distance between the nose and lip, increases red lip show, and enhances volume and definition.

This is performed under local anesthesia and usually takes no more than an hour. The recovery initially takes about a week, with swelling and redness being common. In this period of time the stitches will also be removed.

View attachment 41909

Lip Boosters

Lip boosters are usually injectable treatments containing specialized, low viscosity HA that is designed to deeply hydrate, renew, and slightly plump the lips. This differs from traditional dermal fillers as it does not provide the significant structural volume.

Lip boosters improve texture, and enhances the lips natural, soft look for a more temporary finish. The formulas also serves as a skin booster, encouraging long term collagen production.

Swelling may last for up to 3 days but recovery is quick, with results lasting from 3-6 months.

View attachment 41910

View attachment 41763

Philtrum to Chin ≈ 2 - 2.4

View attachment 41765

Upper to Lower Lip Ratio ≈ 1.4 - 2

View attachment 41998

Palate Expanders:

View attachment 41787

While palate expanders do not directly impact the lips, a broader, more aesthetic smile can be a byproduct of expansion. This is because expanders expand the upper jaw and the dental arch, the widening of the jaw can cause a slight secondary increase in lip width or smile width.

Mouth Widening Device:

This here is called a microstomia prevention splint and it works by stretching your mouth so that it gradually adjusts to being stretched more than usual so that a bigger width can be achieved.

View attachment 41792

View attachment 41795

View attachment 41796

View attachment 41798

Now take a look at the next image taken three years later. My face is just as relaxed as it was in the first image—or else my nose and face shape would have been different. Notice that I have no more wrinkles or sagging on the corners of my mouth despite the stretching, yet it’s obviously visibly wider—and I’m now 58.

View attachment 41799

View attachment 41800

View attachment 41556

Speaking from personal experience, angular cheilitis is easy to take care of, just use an antibiotic cream and keep your lips moisturized. Also avoid going out in the cold without ample lip protection, the cold can be very drying. Here's the cream I used personally.

View attachment 41557

Make sure to use it day and night and seal it in with a layer of Aquaphor on top

Actinic Cheilitis is a precancerous condition of the lips, caused by long term UV exposure. It appears as chronic, dry, cracked, scaly, or discolored patches on the lower lip.

View attachment 41558

View attachment 41559

In order to avoid this you must identify what exactly you're allergic to and get rid of it. Topical creams can also help with the symptoms.

Exfoliative Cheilitis is a rarer form of cheilitis, it is categorized by chronic inflammation causing persistent peeling, scaling, and crusting of the lips, often affecting the vermilion zone.

View attachment 41560

View attachment 41568
Treatments include: intralesional corticosteroid injections, anti inflammatory antibiotics, dietary changes, and sometimes surgical reduction.

Glandularis Cheilitis is an inflammatory condition of the minor salivary glands, usually affecting the lower lip. The condition appears as a swelling, out turned lip. Also there can be discharge of thick mucoid saliva from dilated ductal openings.

View attachment 41570

This condition is often associated with chronic biting, smoking, or sun damage

Treatments for this conditions go as follows:

Topicals: Topical steroids, antibiotics, or calcineurin inhibitors to reduce inflammation.

Surgery: Vermilionectomy is often the most effective treatment for persistent disease.

Prevention: Don't smoke and make sure you're wearing lip balm with 30 SPF, also keep you lips hydrated.

Drug Induced Cheilitis is inflammation of the lips, caused from Medications

View attachment 41961

View attachment 41965

This often mimics lip cancer, requiring biopsy for diagnosis

Treatment includes topical calcineurin inhibitors, steroids, and photodynamic therapy.

Infectious Cheilitis is inflammation of the lips, caused by infection. Usually resulting in red, painful, cracked sores. Often at the corners of the mouth.

It is often caused by candida yeast, bacteria, or viruses

Treatment includes: Antifungal creams (for yeast), antibiotic ointments (for bacteria), or antiviral medications

View attachment 41967

This type of cheilitis stems from, underlying deficiencies in vitamins: B2,B3,B6, and B12. Iron deficiency, or zinc deficiency. Or chronic illness.

It appears as angular cheilitis, red cracked fissures, usually at the corners of the mouth.

View attachment 41968

View attachment 41561

View attachment 41563

Products:

Using exfoliating scrubs can help reveal a nice rosy hue, as it would strip away any pale dead skin.

Another thing to use is a 10% niancinamide cream, this can help fade discoloration on the lips.

Also using colored balms can help with obtaining a nice reddish appearance.

View attachment 41564

Things to Avoid:

•Smoking

•Picking/licking/biting

•High caffeine intake

•Unprotected sun exposure

•virus (HSV-1. In rare cases HSV-2)

•Can be transmitted through saliva, skin to skin contact, sharing lip balm/utensils.

Triggers:

• Stress and fatigue (physical and emotional)

• Sun exposure and windy weather

• Illness

• Immune system changes

• Skin trauma

• hormonal changes

Cold sores can last 1-3 weeks. Treatment can help speed up this process and speed up healing.

Treatments such as: antiviral medications, such as OTC docosanol (Abreva) or prescription creams/pills (acyclovir). It's best to use this early, at the first sign of tingling.

Some remedies include: pain relievers, cold compress, and avoiding triggers.

View attachment 41539

This image shows why you should lipmax. Lipmaxxing is always going to be a positive if you do it correctly

View attachment 41543

Cons:

Cracking

• Dryness

View attachment 41545

View attachment 41547

View attachment 41548

View attachment 41551

View attachment 41795

View attachment 41796

View attachment 41800

View attachment 41561

View attachment 41563

Products:

Using exfoliating scrubs can help reveal a nice rosy hue, as it would strip away any pale dead skin.

Another thing to use is a 10% niancinamide cream, this can help fade discoloration on the lips.

Also using colored balms can help with obtaining a nice reddish appearance.

View attachment 41564

Things to Avoid:

•Smoking

•Picking/licking/biting

•High caffeine intake

•Unprotected sun exposure

•virus (HSV-1. In rare cases HSV-2)

•Can be transmitted through saliva, skin to skin contact, sharing lip balm/utensils.

Triggers:

• Stress and fatigue (physical and emotional)

• Sun exposure and windy weather

• Illness

• Immune system changes

• Skin trauma

• hormonal changes

Cold sores can last 1-3 weeks. Treatment can help speed up this process and speed up healing.

Treatments such as: antiviral medications, such as OTC docosanol (Abreva) or prescription creams/pills (acyclovir). It's best to use this early, at the first sign of tingling.

Some remedies include: pain relievers, cold compress, and avoiding triggers.

View attachment 41539

This image shows why you should lipmax. Lipmaxxing is always going to be a positive if you do it correctly

View attachment 41543

Cons:

Cracking

• Dryness

View attachment 41545

View attachment 41547

View attachment 41548

View attachment 41551

View attachment 41763

Philtrum to Chin ≈ 2 - 2.4

View attachment 41765

Upper to Lower Lip Ratio ≈ 1.4 - 2

Palate Expanders:

View attachment 41787

While palate expanders do not directly impact the lips, a broader, more aesthetic smile can be a byproduct of expansion. This is because expanders expand the upper jaw and the dental arch, the widening of the jaw can cause a slight secondary increase in lip width or smile width.

Mouth Widening Device:

This here is called a microstomia prevention splint and it works by stretching your mouth so that it gradually adjusts to being stretched more than usual so that a bigger width can be achieved.

View attachment 41795

View attachment 41796

View attachment 41800

View attachment 41561

Protection:

This isn't too hard, just get a mineral lip balm that has at least 30 SPF. Make sure you reapply every two hours if you're experiencing prolonged sun exposure.

View attachment 41562

View attachment 41563

Products:

Using exfoliating scrubs can help reveal a nice rosy hue, as it would strip away any pale dead skin.

Another thing to use is a 10% niancinamide cream, this can help fade discoloration on the lips.

Also using colored balms can help with obtaining a nice reddish appearance.

View attachment 41564

Things to Avoid:

•Smoking

•Picking/licking/biting

•High caffeine intake

•Unprotected sun exposure

•virus (HSV-1. In rare cases HSV-2)

•Can be transmitted through saliva, skin to skin contact, sharing lip balm/utensils.

Triggers:

• Stress and fatigue (physical and emotional)

• Sun exposure and windy weather

• Illness

• Immune system changes

• Skin trauma

• hormonal changes

Cold sores can last 1-3 weeks. Treatment can help speed up this process and speed up healing.

Treatments such as: antiviral medications, such as OTC docosanol (Abreva) or prescription creams/pills (acyclovir). It's best to use this early, at the first sign of tingling.

Some remedies include: pain relievers, cold compress, and avoiding triggers.

why with mods
idk from what ive seen cameron congratulated circa for becoming mod, circa dnr'd and dexter posted a ss of cameron saying smt about circa in the lol forum, cameron claimed it was facts and while it may come across as mockery its true...

dexter then went on to claim cameron copys and pastes threads to which cameron asked for proof and dexter started running from the debate, it is what it is idk why cameron is getting hate, maybe hes just a bit too mature for the people on here, i think i'm part of the problem with this whole gck thing which me and xvideos sorted out now.
