Unidirectional tunnels solve the traffic issue Tor has. its like way harder for LE to map..

It's akin to people hyping up monero a while ago and it wasn't used as widely still, until most darknet markets decided to ban other Cryptocurrencies.

Dread and some others are planning to shift to i2p
But it's gonna take pretty long time before that happens;
simply because it's not as popular as tor.

Also you're over exaggerating the tor n monero stuff
If someone is that paranoid, they can simply run their own nodes or access tor with a vpn.

aslong as you're using a vpn with no log policy it isn't problematic
all LE can potentially know, is that your Entry node is accessed with a proxy instead of a real IP
doesn't blend in aswell but it's a wall you can use for accessing some content if you're super paranoid, tho yea it's not recommended
