INTRODUCTION:

I will be explaining experimental solutions to bone growth after development that could work in theory

**This is all theory take this with a grain of salt**

Here is a little breakdown of craniofacial growth:

Craniofacial growth is a complex process where your skull, face, and jaw develop its shape, size and position, driven by genetics, brain growth, and environmental factors.

During development your sutures are soft and malleable and contain a lot of stem cells.

Knowing this, we can look at the maxilla for example the bone that makes you your mid-face. When you are young your maxilla grows forwards and outwards because your sutures are like expansion joints that keep the bone growing and are loaded with stem cells. This is why mechanical stimuli such as proper tongue posture and breathing and proper nutrition and chewing is essential in development.

However, in your mid-late teens your sutures fuse, becoming interlocked and rigid, making the force to move them go from proper tongue posture to invasive operations.

THEORY:

Now here is where the theoretical portion of the thread starts.

A groundbreaking experiment led by USC researchers, showed that regenerating these growth sites restores both physical structure and brain development. They did this by injecting Gli1+ skeletal stem cells, effectively rejuvenating the suture tissue allowing for skull expansion, and significantly improving the mice's neurocognitive function and skull shape.

**IMPORTANT NOTE: THESE MICE HAD CRANIOSYNOSTOSIS (Premature fusion in one or more skull bones in an infant)**

Now theoretically, humans can engineer these stem cells and use them to make growth plates and sutures responsive again no matter what age you are! Meaning theoretically you could grow height as well because it makes your growth plates open again.

However you would still need great orthopedic force to move the maxilla. The stem cells make the bone responsive but doesn't replace the machinery necessary to move it. So after 16 natural growth is essentially dead, but this doesn't mean it's over because with biotechnology and real mechanical force you might be able to save yourself!

**All of this is theoretical and hypothetical**
