I have been reading and stumbled upon an interesting topic. The claim that holding your breath for 90% will increase human growth hormone by 556%. A 1986 study published in the International Journal of Sports Medicine demonstrated that extreme respiratory stress, involving hyperventilation followed by maximal breath-holding, causes a 1.5 to 5.56-fold surge in human growth hormone levels, largely driven by severe blood pH changes and hypoxia. The pituitary gland releases this surge of HGH as an emergency response to stress, peaking approximately 30 minutes after the protocol, while also raising cortisol levels.
