I'm just going to cut straight to the chase, self discipline is a huge must when it comes to looksmaxxing.
Especially in the real word, it often sounds like a chore however.
It does not need to be this way at all.
I've been working on my discipline recently, it's pretty shit, but there's a few things that actually make it stick without it feeling overstimulating.
1. Start Small
Fuck all that shit about overhauling your life overnight. Want to wake up earlier for your morning routine? Try XX:XX for a week. Want to get used to working out without throwing yourself into a gym plan? Do simple workouts for 10 minutes. Your goal for this is to build momentum. Also, make the right choice the easiest one; lay out your clothes for the morning, get rid of junk food, clean your bedroom. Your environment plays a huge role in this!
2. Commit to the 'Why'
Think of WHY you want to be disciplined. Is it for better grades, starting a side hustle, feeling cleaner? When you feel down in the dumps and feel like quitting, remind yourself of that end goal and how awesome it will feel once you've achieved it. This is your petrol, your diesel.
3. Leverage the power of 'Then'
This is a huge game-changer. Instead of doom-scrolling this forum before you do something, tell yourself; "I will do X, then I'll hop on the forum for a bit." OR "Once I've done X, then I'll shitpost on looksmax.gg."
Use a small, almost immediate reward that you enjoy only AFTER you've completed the task. This trains your brain to associate the effort with pleasure, making you more likely to do it again next time.
4. Reduce "Easy Dopamine" & Increase Sensitivity
To make those earned rewards hit harder, consider cutting back on constant, passive dopamine. Like jerking off. Passive dopamine hits throughout the day, whether it be binge-watching, doom-scrolling social media, eating junk food, whatever. When your brain isn't constantly flooded, the dopamine from achieving something feels much more potent and rewarding, reinforcing your positive habits more effectively and eliminating the terrible habits.
5. The "Two-Minute" Rule
If a task takes less than two minutes, do it now. Do not postpone it for another time. This could be your skincare, brushing your teeth, sending a quick email to your boss, putting away your laundry. It prevents small tasks from piling up and becoming overwhelming, freeing up mental energy for bigger tasks you may have.
6. Seek Knowledge & Inspiration
Immerse yourself into content that reinforces discipline and growth. Read books about self-help or philosophy (Friedrich Nietzche is good), listen to podcasts about habit formation, or follow people who embody the discipline you aspire to achieve. Learning new strategies and hearing success stores can keep your 'why' strong.
A few that I've seen that I suggest are, Atomic Habits, How to Win Friend and Influence People, Codepedent, Dopamine Nation, etc.
7. Cultivate Willpower, Not Just Motivation
Motivation is a feeling that comes and goes, take it from me. Willpower is the muscle which allows you to act even when you don't feel like it. Don't do stuff because you're motivated to, but do it because you have the willpower. Each time you push through a tough challenge, you strengthen that muscle, making the next time easier. The action itself generates the 'want' later.
8. Forgive Yourself & Rebound Fast
This may seem impossible, especially considering most of you consider yourselves as incels, but that's what this thread is trying to help you change. You WILL slip up. You'll miss a workout, you'll forget to do a chore, you'll eat something you shouldn't have. It's not about being perfect; it's about how you recover. Don't let one silly mistake derail everything. Acknowledge it, learn from it, and get right back on track. As they say, tomorrow is a new day.
