Society is probably at its peak in surface level terms our economic output is high, we own a lot but life is extremely dissatisfying and deeply broken. Here are the reasons and my predictions for the future (bookmark this)
Collectivisation of Thinking
Social media and the sheer abundance of virtue signalling, cancel culture that is prevent in modern society means that the populous opinion needs to be held to fit in with society. Common opinion that is held by an extreme majority e.g populous left and right politics that is influenced mostly by social media trends dictated by those with market influence (big corps, malicious nations etc) is used to control people’s thoughts and anything politically incorrect leads to social exclusion, this is our societies biggest downfall and we no longer defend our actual beliefs and instead become slaves to trends. This links back into the herd mentality and how our priority is social rather than moral
Death of Family and Community
In previous societies children were raised in communities that fostered development with two strong parents who could give them support. Instead we decided to become consumers and buy things. Our priority is now instead pure economic and not to our familial role. The nuclear family isn’t perfect but it’s the best option, kids from divorced families are well documented to turn out worse and we seem to be leaving this behind which is worrying and gives governments more control over opinion as kids are now raised in schools and the curriculum decides what they believe in.
Biological Divergence
previously we were designed and built for a natural hunter gatherer world, our hormones are built for this, we replaced this with working a 9-5 and people wonder why we are not happy. If animals started to mass sucuide we would question the environment but we seem to think we are beyond this
Consequences
Our opinions are extremely easy to influence and as such we will be subject to more suffering under. People will not fight it because it will lead to social exclusion. AI realistically needs to be stopped and legislation introduced but the influence that big corps have due to lobby money and manufactured trends will fully allow them to replace human labour reducing our worth to cattle
The third world gets subject to EXTREME injustice and our lives become more and more dull until we are fully worthless not to mention the birth rate is extremely high in third world countries meaning more people are born into poverty
I don’t see a world where the non wealthy are valuable post AI job loss and we are all too busy consuming shit to realise
