To start off Tazarotene is obv less effective than accutane but if you're trying to start off with a topical then read this

What it is/does

Binds all 3 forms of the RAR (retinoic acid receptor) RARa (mostly found in the immune cells and plays a key role to inflammation),RARb (found mostly in skin and it's involved in skin development/maintenance), RARg (same as RARb) it mostly affects RARb and RARg

Benefits

A more potent and tolerable ovr than tretinoin (1)

Helps with acne and plaque psoriasis (which is a skin condition that causes rashes and itchiness) (2)

Side Affects

Common side effects in using tazarotene for acne are

dry skin

peeling skin

redness or other skin discoloration

burning sensation

More common side effects in using tazarotene for plaque psoriasis are

itchy skin

redness or other skin discoloration

stinging or burning sensation (3)

What form it comes in/How to get it

Comes in a cream (most common), foam, lotion, and gel form (4)

can be found at local pharmacies and can also order online but not suggested (4)

Dosage

Start off on a lower dose/frequency and slowly go up

Conclusion

If you're looking for a topical treatment for acne, then def use tazarotene
