"Who are you? are you just memories? without memories there is no "you", only instinct. And instinct isn't you, we all share most innate instincts, so we're not instinct. Your thoughts, your inner monologue, the pictures you imagine, these are all just memory. Or formed due to it. What is "you" without memory? Are just what we see, hear, and smell? Or, are we more? The only reason i can think to question this is because of information I've processed before; a non-original thought. Who has the mind that thinks on its own? would that be god, or man?"
:banderas:

Lmk what you think. I don't know if this makes sense, or if im even telling the truth. Just been on mind alot recently, and i have no-one to talk about it with.

yea memory/experiences determine like 99% of thinking. Movies like the Jason Bourne movies where someone loses their memory they usually tweak out and lose their minds because they have no answers to anything.

Idk man I think there's something more than the instincts if senses were to be removed, like notice how in dreams you hear audio and you see clear except it's not really your auditory/visual senses' work? It's the amygdala being tinkered in a way that isn't instinctual. Say you removed all your memories + emotions + senses, there would still be awareness. I think it's that form of subtle awareness that gets polluted when signals form other non-corporeal creatures come in contact, like the frequencies you'd call spirits. There might even be a more unaided form of aware potentiality that doesn't even conclude a subject and an object, but at that form I don't think it's possible to be unwillingly diluted.

Because you've seen and heard before; your memories.

How can you be aware if you don't know? to come to the "aware" conclusion, surely it needs memories?
Imagine a baby is born: He can't see, hear, feel, smell and taste. What is he? Just instinct. But is that a person? Because he doesn't do anything, lil guy can't even think. Literally an empty head. That's not "aware", he literally doesn't have to means to be aware.

Well depends on your definition of aware for sure, literally it comes from "a wary" which isn't what its used for today at all. But I don't disagree with you that memories are needed for us to be able to "hallucinate" another existence without senses. Infants probably are aware, they have a higher amt of sentience(if it can be measured) relative to iq than us, that's why they feel a lot and are able to learn languages quick with 0 pregame.

You are you because of your memories, they make who you are and also other people’s memories of you creates your character in their eyes. In my opinion instinct is made my memories. When you remember something your instinct kicks in and forms a solution or a thought process of what situation you are currently in. Memories can kill a man but can also save the man it all depends on who you are
