you all know that each of us expertise in a different topic of the niche looksmaxxing, and what i expertise in is orthodontics, and the topic that’s been so heavily
controversial, premolars extractions.
The main question that everyone asks, do premolars extractions recess you or not, and the answer isn’t a yes or no. It depends on the patients case, don’t get me wrong, if your orthodontist immediately jumps to extractions without exploring other options, then you need to get other opinions, however when done on the correct patient, the only side effects you will see are lips retraction and not any MAJOR maxillary deficiency if any at all, the reason you see all this fear mongering about it is because it’s done on the wrong people
Even with extractions not being a huge problem, even when done on the correct patient, it is still recommended to get bone grafts to make up for the lost support, in my personal case, my orthodontist had to wait 2 months to check if i was a suitable candidate for expansion but i wasn’t, i had severe overcrowding and open bite that i needed extractions, and my biggest regret is not getting bone grafts for it but oh well, i’m not recessed but not overly projected, which is why im probably getting a djs, however im still young, and there might be a chance for projection as i’m not mid tanner 4 yet.
i could go more in depth about extractions, but i don’t have time to cite all the studies on how when done on the correct patients, it doesn’t correlate to maxillary deficiency, thanks for reading.
