ELIMINATING PERSPECTIVE

One of the most important aspects of any image used for facial analysis is that the
subject be looking directly into the camera.
The front of the face must be parallel to the lens of the camera.
There must be no tilt of the head either up, down, left or right.
Doing so immediately renders a photo unreliable and usable
for any type accurate facial measurements.

OPTICAL DISTORTIONS

Eliminate this by pushing the camera
further from your face.

HOW TO MEASURE IDEAL LENGTHS
To measure anything online from a photo, you require a reference

length. However, it's very difficult to know if there isn't anything
in the photo to refer to. Therefore, we can use A (top of head to chin)
to use that as a reference to calculate the rest of the features.

The average length for a female's head to chin is 18 cm (±2 cm because it
ranges differ from person, angles, perspective, etc.) and for males, it's the exact same.
Utilising the golden ratio to measure facial lengths is always rough and all estimation.

A. Top of Head to Chin
B. Top of Head to Pupil
C. Pupil to Tip of Nose
D. Pupil to Lips (vermillion border, NOT the cupid's bow)
E. Width of Nose
F. Distance Between Outside Edges of Eyes
G. Width of Head
H. Hairline to Pupil
I. Tip of Nose to Chin
J. Lips to Chin
K. Length of Lips
L. Tip of Nose to Lips

Remember to measure in centimetres
After you have measured these lengths, calculate the ratios indicated.
A/G, B/D, I/J, I/C, E/L, F/H, K/E
Your answers to the above ratios should be near the Golden Ratio, 1.618.
If you are very far off on any one of them, recheck both your measurements and your calculations.
(unless you're measuring a sub5 with melting facial features/symmetry.)
