Long hair has been the epitome of masculinity, power,
strength and leadership since the start of time.
If we look at Ancient Rome, we can see it was very common
for men to keep their hair long. It only developed into short hair
being acceptable when Julius Caesar normalised it since
there was less of you to grab (in battle).
Within the era of Medieval Europe, long hair was a thing commong
amongst solely the affluent, and the affluent only. This was typically due
to the fact because long hair required maintenance and grooming.
If you had no money, you lacked appearing presentable and keeping
your hygiene to a good standard.
Viking men also had long hair, often braiding it, whether
that be into simple or intricate braids. Men did it to keep their
hair out of their face in battle, amongst other spiritual
ideas, and I can assume women did it mostly as a sign
of beauty.

DIFFERENCES
The differences in people from when they have short
hair to long hair is of a great quantity. Having short hair in ancient
Greece was often negatively associated with slavery, old age, ugliness,
punishment, or a social disorder. For women, long hair was
a symbol of things like elegance, vanity, wealth, and status.

At relatively similar angles, we can see how Richard Ramirez
looks way better with the long hair compared to his short. Since Ramirez isn't
boneless, recessed or anything of the kind, he still looks good despite his cropped hair,
however the long hair on him gives his features a more sharp
look. He looks overall way more dominant and masculine with the long.
