I don’t know if this is a known fact on the forum or not, but bonemass is heavily linked to prenatal and early development. This may be due to a number of differing factors though.
FACTORS:
Mother nutrition
Parental genetic factors
Genetic/phenotypic diversity
Postnatal early development
These factors are what can be inferred from the statistic gathered in these reports, along with personal speculation. Mothers nutrition and postnatal development may be tied — as mothers generally would feed the same food they eat to their children. But that’s not denying the fact of possible genetic drift and differing of phenotypic displays.
I am still not fully convinced parental genetics have as much of a role to play in much of development. Although as proven by many studies, malnutrition ‘symptoms’ may be passed through generations. Furthermore, you can still grow bonemass well into your 30’s as seen in the linked study below, this too supports the idea that nutrition and generational malnutrition affect bonemass — possibly overall looks as-well.
Let me know what you think and your theories of bonemass growth, and other possible affecting factors.
