I must have interpreted the source I used wrongly as Akhmetov's growth took place until age 18. This means that the most likely scenario is that these methods will not work for someone who has finished growing and I do not know if it would make a difference on teenagers going through puberty. I will still leave this post up for those who are interested.
I will try to give a summery of a video I came across on YouTube (which will be linked below) that talks about a man who induced an artificial growth spurt after puberty.
A Ukrainian man named "Rustam Akhmetov", who wanted to partake in the Olympic high jump for the Soviet Union, developed various methods to grow 23cm (11 inches) and went from 5'4 to 6'2). That is all the backstory I will give about this man as, quite frankly, no one here cares.
Pictured: Rustam Akhmetov
The main methods used:
1. Psychology
You have to constantly think about growing taller. This is the most important technique in this list. According to Rustam Akhmetov, height is like a genetic corridor where each door along that corridor equates to a different height which exists in a person's subconscious - and the further the door, the taller the height. He also describes that growing taller should be considered a game so the person trying to become taller does not get mentally worn down by the constant task of growing taller. Hanging off bars and jumping up to reach a branch are given as examples to make someone think about growing taller subconsciously, while making it fun.
2. Correct nutrition
Not much was said on this topic except needing lots of protein and vitamin A. I would also assume you would need lots of vitamin D and K2 and enough calories in your diet, so your body has the energy to grow. I take vitamin D and K2 in a spray format, which is easy for the body to digest and tastes good, and vitamin A can be easily consumed though eating carrots (Akhmetov ate 2 to 3 a day). As a side note, depression has been linked to a lack of vitamin D, so increasing the amount of vitamin D you get can improve your mental state in some cases.
3. Swimming (and other explosive exercise)
This is the most important physical activity. Rustam Akhmetov claims it allows people to grow taller even if their growth plates are closed citing Russian scientific studies. Basketball and volleyball are also recommended but are not as effective (and yes, I am aware that players of these sports tend to be chosen for their height as opposed to growing form playing that sport). These sports encourage the growth of soft, explosive muscle that does not prevent the body from growing taller. Gymnasts on the other hand, have tight knotted muscles that prevent the body from growing (so avoid becoming a gymnast, although I do not think any one here was planning to anyway).
4. Resistance Bands
Probably the most radical method (and most likely to be found on a Lookism site) is sleeping in resistance bands. The video does not explicitly state how these were attached, although an image is shown of someone with resistance bands tired to their ankles and shoulders, so I would assume this is how Akhmetov slept. Akhmetov also states that you can sleep on your back or side.
5. Stretching
The video shows various various stretching techniques to loosen up a person's muscles, allowing them to grow taller, although the video does not go into detail on how to do the stretches.
6. Writing a note
Lastly Akhmetov recommends writing a note reading "I undertake the task of growing [amount you truly desire] and will accomplish this in one year. I MUST ACHIEVE THIS BY ALL MEANS!". Place this somewhere where you will see this every day, so you are constantly reminded of needing to grow.
Side effects
Supposedly you will get stretch marks, which are a sign of getting taller. I do not know of any others (besides getting taller).
Disclaimer
I am not too sure on the science behind this, so it could be all lies, however it would probably be best to watch the video or, if you can read Russian, read the source material as Akhmetov would know the most on this subject.
